While it may not be good news just yet, you can always head back to this year's Kirby and the Forgotten Land for some solo fun. Instead, it fills more of a Fall Guys-style spot, as a multiplayer-heavy battle royale mode where you'll find little to do solo. As such, if your only motivation to pick up Kirby's Dream Buffet is to experience a new story or focus solely on solo gameplay, it may not be for you.
Of course, while both of those can technically be played in single-player, they don't constitute a bona fide story mode. It's a great way to hone your skills outside of a competitive context, and a chance to explore the colourful landscapes without any pressure. This is a small sandbox you can explore, where you'll practice navigating different obstacles, and get to grips with the range of power-ups available.
If you choose to play just with AI rivals, it will technically work as a single-player experience, albeit still lacking the narrative thrust some gamers look for.Įqually, you can check out Free Rolling mode. It's one of the three match types in Kirby's Dream Buffet, pitting you against AI opponents or split-screen friends rather than online opponents.
